PRP – Hair Restoration

PRP Therapy is a technique used to promote tissue regeneration and remodelling by delivering growth factors at high concentration to the treated site. The technique compromises withdrawal of patients own blood, processing it in a centrifuge, extracting platelet rich plasma and injecting it into the required site. This whole procedure takes around an hour, 3 treatments are required for optimum results, although more may be recommended. Maintenance is also advised once or twice per year.

PRP is a fantastic technique for hair restoration, the injection of PRP into the treated site activates platelets causing regeneration associated growth factors. This then initiates hair growth resulting in thicker/fuller hair. This treatment is perfect for people who suffer from premature balding, alopecia or generally thin/sparse hair.

When will I see results?
Results should not be expected immediately and are generally visible at 3 weeks, with a continued gradual improvement over 6-12 months. Improvement is dependent on hair follicle condition.

Is this treatment safe?
PRP treatment is autologous (derived from the patient’s own blood), minimising safety concerns for an allergic response or disease transmission. Furthermore, PRP may be used in sensitive areas, such as the fine skin around the eyes which are not suited for other treatments. PRP may be combined with other treatments to stimulate biological effect.

What is the hair restoration course?
The course takes 12 weeks and includes 3 x PRP treatments with a nurse and 3 x hair recovery treatments using a derma roller, with a therapist. The hair recover treatment involves using a pharma-hermetica hair growth/restoration product, this help maximise the results of the PRP therapy.
