Leg Thread Veins, treatment available

Leg Thread Veins can be treated!

As Spring/Summer approaches we all start to feel a little self conscious about our bodies. Leg thread veins are a huge bug bare for lots of us.

A big reason that a lot of us choose not to wear shorts or skirts is that we have unsightly broken leg thread veins. That’s where Evolve Medical comes in handy! Using a prescription only medicine we can reduce the veins by up to 80%.

What’s involved?

You will need to be seen by one of our nurses for a full medical consultation. I f you are suitable for treatment they can prescribe a treatment called Sclerovein. Sclerovein is injected directly into the veins. It causes damage to the vessels which makes them contract. Their appearance is reduced by as much as 80%.

The treatment may be slightly uncomfortable though the needles used are very small. The area will be thoroughly cleansed before the procedure to prevent infection.

Once treated the are may feel hot and itchy. It will look slightly red and raised. As with all injectable procedures there is a slight risk of bruising.

It is important to remember that the veins may look a bit worse before they look better. This is perfectly normal and is caused by the blood coagulating in the vessel. For this reason now is the perfect time to start treatment for leg thread veins as we rarely were shorts/skirts when it’s so cold.

Aftercare for leg thread vein treatment is just as important as the procedure itself. You will be given a sheet to take home with instructions which must be adhered to. All aftercare will be discussed prior to treatment as it may help you to decide when the best time to start.

The main aftercare points are:

  • Firm support tights or compression hosiery must be worn for 3 days.
  • No hot baths for 7 days.
  • Avoid sun exposure for 6 weeks.
  • Avoid flying for 4 weeks.
  • Avoid vigorous exercise for 2 weeks.

We advise gentle 30 minute walks every day to encourage the vein to constrict.
