Happy Halloween, PRP Therapy, vampire facelift

Happy Halloween: We take a look at the vampire facelift, aka PRP Therapy!

In the spirit of Halloween, this week’s blog looks at PRP therapy, also known as the vampire facelift. PRP therapy stands for Platelet Rich Plasma therapy. If you’re wanting to eliminate the signs of ageing, but not looking to go under the knife, then PRP therapy is perfect for you! In our Halloween special, we take a look at how PRP therapy works and the benefits of this fabulous treatment.

So, how did the vampire facelift get its name?

The treatment got its nickname of the vampire facelift as it doesn’t use any form of surgery, or any man-made chemicals, just blood!

Firstly, you will have a free consultation with our qualified practitioner. You will discuss the desired outcome of the treatment. PRP Therapy involves blood being taken from a vein in the arm and “spun”. The blood is then injected into soft tissue on the face to create plumper skin and create a more youthful look.

PRP therapy is an autologous treatment, which is why it is extremely safe. There is no need to worry about transmitting diseases or immune responses, as the blood used is taken from a vein in your arm, meaning there is minimal risk.

As soon as the plasma is injected into the skin, a cell reaction takes place. This stimulates collagen and elastin giving a more youthful appearance. PRP therapy results include plumper skin as well as the reduction of wrinkles, meaning that over all your skin will appear younger and healthier.

Which areas are suitable for treatment?

The treatment is multipurpose and suitable for all areas of the face, hand wrinkles, acne scars, neck décolletage and can even treat hair loss. You will have the opportunity to discuss the specific area you wish to treat with the qualified practitioner in the consultation, prior to the treatment.

What can be expected?

We allow an hour for the treatment. To ensure the procedure is carried out in a safe and effective way, we require you to fill out a thorough medical questionnaire and consent form. As mentioned before, we will take a sample of blood.

We use local anaesthetic to minimise any pain and ensure you’re comfortable throughout the treatment. The results from the treatment are so impressive we will take a before and after photo so you can see the amazing results for yourself!

What will happen after the treatment?

Initially after the treatment, the treated area may look slightly bumpy. This is normal and it will go down after approximately an hour. To minimise these affects you should avoid wearing make-up and products for the first 24 hours after treatment.

It will take around three to four weeks for the results to start to show. Four weeks after the treatment, there will be noticeable improvements which will only continue. For the best results, we recommend a course of three treatments at monthly intervals. After completing your first course we recommend you follow up with monthly booster treatments.
