Lip fillers are a popular choice of treatment for those who are looking to enhance the shape and size of their lips and achieve a fuller appearance. The filler can help achieve a more youthful appearance too, as they’re also effective at reducing smokers’ lines, making it a suitable treatment for people of all ages.
Although you may have heard a lot about lip fillers, you may not know the specifics of the treatment, such as how long the results will last and will the treatment hurt. In this blog, we’re going to answer some commonly asked questions surrounding lip fillers.
How Long Will The Results Of Lip Filler Treatment Last?
There are a few factors which can affect how long lip fillers last but typically it will be around 4-6 months. As the filler is made from hyaluronic acid, which occurs naturally in our skin, the body will break this down over time, which means it’s not a permanent effect.
This is a huge positive for most as they are able to receive the treatment and decide how they feel about the results without committing to any permanent changes. If you’re happy with how your lip fillers look, you can have repeated treatments to ‘top-up’ the fillers and maintain the results over a longer period of time.
Do Lip Fillers Hurt?
Before injecting the filler, one of our medical practitioners will apply a local anaesthetic cream to your lips which should help reduce any pain you would otherwise feel. In the hours after the treatment, it’s possible that you’ll feel a small amount of pain and some discomfort as the lips will swell – a natural reaction to the injection.
How Often Can You Have Lip Fillers?
Officially there is no set time that you should wait before having another lip filler treatment, however, it’s common that once a patient has found the right size of lips to suit them, they will have a top-up appointment once the filler begins to break down. This isn’t the same for everyone though, and you may find that after your first treatment, you’d like to enhance the appearance of your lips further.
