Lumecca is one of Evolve Medical’s most popular advanced aesthetic treatments, delivering excellent results without even penetrating the skin. This treatment is perfect for those who want to improve the appearance of their skin without the need for an invasive procedure.
In this blog, we delve into exactly what the Lumecca treatment is, what’s involved in the process and the many incredible benefits that it can bring.
What Is Lumecca?
Lumecca is an aesthetic treatment which utilises pulsed light (IPL) to treat a variety of pigmented and vascular lesions. The Lumecca treatment uses photothermolysis, which delivers a photo facial through the administering of a light-based treatment.
Typically, the most popular chosen treatment areas for Lumecca are those which are the most exposed to the sun on a regular basis, which is why many patients opt to have Lumecca treatment on their face and neck area.
The treatment is easy, non-invasive and can instantly improve the clarity of the skin, to leave you feeling your most confident, best self.
What Does The Lumecca Treatment Involve?
Your Lumecca journey will begin with a consultation with one of our specialist team who will explain the treatment to you and ensure that it is the right cause of action for your skin concerns. During the treatment, the equipment we use will deliver a bright flash of light to your face, resulting in a pain-free, warm sensation.
This will be carried out on all areas which need to be treated during the session, which can typically take up to 30 minutes. Once the treatment is complete, you will begin to see an improvement in your skin within 1-2 weeks. During this time, the skin will quickly begin its healing process, gradually revealing the successful results of the treatment.
Whilst you will see some significant benefits from just one treatment, it is recommended that you have multiple treatments to ensure you can achieve the best possible result overall. We would recommend having between 3-5 treatments to get the most out of your Lumecca procedure journey.
Are There Any Side Effects Of Lumecca?
As this is a non-invasive treatment, using only rays of light to penetrate the skin, the chance of any side effects is extremely unlikely. It’s also common that if you do experience any side effects, they will subside over the next couple of hours. Some of the side effects you may experience include a warming of the skin and slight redness. This may also result in heightened sensitivity, however, it shouldn’t be painful.
Is Any Before Or Aftercare Required?
As Lumecca is a treatment directly targeting the skin, it’s important to look after your skin during the lead-up to the treatment. It’s recommended that in the month leading up to your Lumecca treatment, you avoid any tanning beds and excessive sun exposure to prevent any damage to your skin.
The same process should be carried out post-treatment to prevent any aggravation of the skin. You should also take extra care when washing, ensuring not to scrub excessively when using exfoliators.
Who Will Carry Out The Treatment?
The Lumecca treatment will be carried out by one of our specialist team, who you will meet during your consultation. Whilst we do have a full team of trained nurses who can complete the treatment for you, we’d like you to meet our Advanced Therapist, Laura Teasdale.
Laura’s long list of qualifications includes City and Guilds advanced beauty therapy, Level 4 IPL and Laser, and many individual treatment certifications such as CACI, HD brows, LVL lashes and Hydrafacial.
