Anti-wrinkle injections have become one of the most popular non-surgical treatments over the last decade and is used to reduce muscle activity and diminish wrinkles. Most commonly known as Botox (Wikipedia). The medication is administered into specific facial muscles to reduce muscle activity. The most common area treated is the forehead and crows feet. There are a number of medical reasons why Botox maybe used, at your medical consultation we will discuss why we may use Botox to treat specific medical conditions. We will seek to always promote your health and well being.
At the Evolve Medical we only use Botox which is made by Allergan.  The Botox we use is approved by the FDA and is licensed for use in Aesthetic medicine. Your full medical consultation will take into consideration any previous treatment you have had before. We will also need to discuss any medical concerns or Allergies you may have. We therefore advise that if you are taking any prescribed or over the counter medications that you bring a list of these to your consultation.
Our Nurse Independent prescriber will write a prescription for your Botox if you wish to proceed with the treatment and you are medically suitable.  It is possible to have your treatment on the same day as your consultation as we work closely with out local Pharmacy Liptrots.

How does Botox work?

Botox works by blocking the acetycholine receptors within the muscle junction this chemical reaction is what is required to make muscles contract. As the receptors no longer function the acetylocholine are unable to bind to the muscle therefore the muscle is not aware it needs to contract. The group of muscles treated will take between five to 14 days to become inactive. They will remain inactive between 3 and 6 months.

Botox can be administered in the lower face also to treat:

  • Lip Lines (smokers lines)
  • Gummy smile
  • Mentalis (orange peel chin)
  • Platysma band (neck)
