Microsclerotherapy: Leg Thread Veins
As Spring/Summer approaches, it’s usually the time where we start to feel a little self conscious of our bodies from the winter season, and start to have a panic. Leg thread veins can be a huge bug bare for a lot of us and it can be a big reason that people choose not to wear shorts or skirts. For this reason now is the perfect time to start treatment for leg thread veins as we rarely were our legs on show when it’s so cold.
What does this treatment involve?
Here at advanced skin lounge we offer a treatment for leg thread veins. You will need to be seen by one of our nurses for a full medical consultation. If you are suitable for treatment, using a prescription medication called sclerovein, the veins are injected with the solution which actively induces damage to the vein wall and in time will result in contraction of the vein wall causing it to reduce by up to 80%, making the aesthetic appearance better.
The treatment can be slightly uncomfortable due to use of a small needle, the needles required are extremely small. The treatment area will be cleansed prior to treatment. Once treated the area may feel hot and itchy. The area will look very red and raised, there is also a small risk of bruising. It is important to consider that the veins can look worse before they appear better, this is normal as the blood coagulates within the vessel.
Following the aftercare sheet post procedure is the most important part of your treatment, this ensures you get optimum results from your sessions. Below is a list of aftercare, please take note of these as this may determine when you choose to have your treatment:
- Any dressings need to be left in situ on the day of treatment
- Firm support tights or compression hosiery for 3 days
- No HOT baths for 7 days
- Avoid sun exposure for 6 weeks
- Avoid flying for 4 weeks
- It is advisable to walk gently 30 minutes a day to help the injected vein to constrict
- Do not vigorously exercise for 2 weeks
